In 2017 we become a principal partner of Menslink, a vital community organisation that provides mentoring, counselling and education programs to young guys in Canberra and the surrounding regions such as Cooma, Yass and Goulburn.
We’re committed to working with the plumbing and building communities to ensure that young men – some of who are our customers and employees – are able to access support when they need it most, so supporting Menslink is a very natural fit for Southern Plumbing Plus.
As a partner we’re helping to promote Menslink services to our customers who employ young blokes, and to raise awareness within the ranks of our own young employees.
In November 2017 we invited Brett White, Assistant Coach to the Canberra Raiders, and Martin Fisk, Menslink Chief Executive Officer, as our special guests to the official launch of our partnership.
Brett, who’s a former State of Origin and Kangaroo Player, is a former plumber himself and spoke to our guests about how he went from being a licensed plumber in Sydney to a footy career, some of the challenges he faced along the way, and why he believes in the good work of Menslink.
In 2018 we look forward to continuing to raise awareness of Menslink, help raise donations if we can, and most importantly, connect young guys to remind them that it’s OK to seek support when it’s needed, and Menslink is a valuable organisation to reach out to when they need it most.
