What it means to be a part of the Southern family
The Southern family is a big one! It encompasses our talented staff, the communities in which we operate, our loyal customers and even their family’s businesses.
“A company’s performance depends on its people and we acknowledge that our committed people underpin the company’s success over the past 40 years. They are our most important and valuable asset,” says Warwick Beutler, Managing Director, Southern Plumbing Supplies.

“At Southern Plumbing Supplies we endeavour to provide our people with the best opportunities to enable them to succeed both in their work and personal life,” says Warwick. “We’ve seen the many personal milestones of our staff and customers, such as getting married, starting a family or business, and buying their first home. Just like a family should, we celebrate these achievements together.”
This year Todd Jackson and Lachlan Kemp have reached 10 years tenure.
This family culture contributes to the growing number of staff who have worked with the company for 10 years or more. Their loyalty supports the company’s growth and achievements and we value their commitment. This year alone we’ve recognised the tenure of Todd Jackson, Lachlan Kemp (10 years of service) and Patrick Read (20 years of service).
And in the same vein, the commitment we have to our customers is what continues to drive them to come back.

Our loyal customers
It’s an honour that many of our customers have worked with us for decades. We know we’ve done our job well when our trade customers stop by in their 30th year of operation or introduce us to their kids’ businesses. It’s little wonder we’ve coined the term “the Southern family”.
Peter Laurent, owner of Eveready Plumbing, has relied on Southern Plumbing Plus since starting his business 30 years ago.
“We've worked with Southern Plumbing since the beginning,” recalls Peter. “We are certainly a part of the Southern family and pride ourselves in sharing similar values of putting our customers first. We too are proudly local and independent.”
It’s a privilege to witness our customers grow their businesses and see the lineage of their trade. And we pride ourselves on the number of generations of families who have continued working with us. The Leake and Georgalis families are prime examples of this.
Bruce Leake, owner of Bruce Leake Plumbing, has been a customer of Southern Plumbing since 2001 and now has three sons in the family business.

“I’m loyal to Southern Plumbing because they look after me with good prices and sort out any issues. I trust them with my business and I’ll keep coming back!” says Bruce.
George Georgalis has been a customer for over 27 years. “I have been a part of the family for as long as I can remember. Since the days before online accounts were created and the company first opened on Hoskins Street,” recalls George.
George shares his passion for building with his son Nick Georgalis, Founder and Managing Director of Geocon. We’re proud to be the supplier of products for Geocon developments – the lead residential builder and developer in the ACT – as outlined by the HIA Colorbond Steel Housing 100 Report.
We value being a part of the communities in which we operate in NSW, Victoria and the ACT. We are proud principal partners of Menslink, a vital organisation dedicated to assisting the lives of young men who are going through tough times in Canberra and surrounding regions. Menslink connects young blokes with support networks and services such as counselling and mentoring. As a partner we promote Menslink services to our customers and employees by sharing the message that it’s OK to seek support.
In 2017 Southern Plumbing Plus became a principal partner of Menslink.
Most importantly, the Southern family supports one another and the communities in which we live. We celebrate each other’s success and offer a hand during times of adversity.
Early last year apprentice plumber Nick Dempsey sustained a life-changing spinal injury. Southern Pluming Plus and Southern Innovations joined forces with many Albury and Wodonga businesses including our own customers Peter Dempsey Plumbing and Davis Sanders Homes, building a four-bedroom auction home to raise funds to support Nick’s long-term rehabilitation. We supplied the bathroom, kitchen and laundry products to this community project.
“The true Australian spirit is helping out a mate when he’s in trouble. Not feeling obliged to do it but doing it because it’s the right thing to do,” says Warwick. “Our communities know that they can rely on us just as we depend on them. And we are determined to maintain this commitment to our communities for another 40 years!”
Of course, we can’t forget our many product suppliers who our staff work with on a daily basis to build lasting relationships which are integral to serving our customers with quality products at the right price, and delivered on time.
